Get started with an Intro

Training at Thames CrossFit begins with your personal intro session. Call us at +44 (0)20 3318 5900 or email at [email protected]. Print and complete a copy of the waiverand bring it along with you

The intro session is a complementary one on one training session during which you’ll learn about our program and actually experience a CrossFit workout for yourself. It is by appointment only and is a prerequisite for taking regular classes. It allows us to serve you better by giving us an idea of your goals and expectations, fitness level, and experience. At the end of this session, you can choose a membership package that suits your needs and gives you access to our CrossFit classes.

If you are interested in our personal training sessions, please call us at +44 (0)20 3318 5900 to schedule your appointment or for more details.

Try CrossFit for free at home!

If you’d like to start immediately, head back to our homepage and try one of our daily workouts posted on the blog. This will give you a flavour of our training style and types of classes. Be warned, the workouts are designed to test even the fittest athletes, and can be very difficult. Here are some tips when starting out on your own.

DSC_3661.JPG 1) Learn proper form on the movements – Many of the movements in a CrossFit workout are different than anything you may have done in the past. When learning a movement, go light, reduce the repetitions, and focus on good form. Overdoing it when you’re just starting out can lead to injury.

2) Start easy – use less weight, reduce the repetitions or distances, and scale the workout to your abilities.

3) Make it a habit – Work out 2-3 days on, 1 day off, or 5 days on, 2 days off with reduced intensity from the beginning to make CrossFit a part of your weekly routine.

4) Gradually increase the intensity – After you have made it a habit for one month, start adding more weight, reps, distances, etc until you can do the workouts as prescribed on the website. As you get fitter, you’ll do the workouts faster. Keep track of your times and note your progress (you can do so in the comments section of the daily blog).

Each workout is designed to test the fittest of elite athletes, and intensity is a key part of it. The workout we post is the only workout you’ll need to do for the entire day, and if you were working your hardest, you will feel drained at the end. Your body will respond and adapt very quickly with high intensity, and this can often be achieved in less than 20 mins per day. The functional movements + high intensity is part of the magic of CrossFit, and how you will produce elite fitness.
